On May 31, 2009, Missouri Immigrant and Refugee Advocates was awarded the Interfaith Legal Services for Immigrants Human Rights Award. Executive Director Jennifer Rafanan accepted the award on behalf of MIRA. Over the last three years, MIRA has grown from 12 organizations to 50 statewide. Recently, MIRA has begun accepting individual members in addition to organizations. MIRA and its member organizations have worked tirelessly to amend or prevent anti-immigrant legislation. They have successfully prevented the passage of more than 60 such bills over the past 3 years. |
